November 27, 2019
As we move into the holiday season and begin to reflect on the last year, we want to acknowledge all who continue to serve the community and work to heal families and individuals impacted by sexual and domestic violence. Your continued support has changed lives and we are grateful to know and work alongside you. We hope that you enjoy time with loved ones as we close out November. Thank you!
THANK YOU KELLY MILLER
I’d like to personally thank Kelly from the ICASDV for attending the Coeur d’ Alene Tribe’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women event October 17th at the Coeur d’Alene Casino in Worley ID. Kelly came bearing gifts in hand and she, very graciously, accepted a last minute request to say a few words at the event. I am very grateful for Kelly’s presence; it means an awful lot to us to have her in our community participating and promoting a vision of compassionate communities. This is truly at the heart of the Coalition’s calls to action for 1) developing meaningful and accountable relationships with communities most impacted by hate and violence and, 2) turning towards those being harmed and interrupting discrimination or abuse and, 3) listening to girls and women and people who are gender non-conforming, people of color, people with disabilities and those that identify as LGBTQ most impacted by domination and violence; listening to their stories of the truth of their histories and lived experiences, and finally talking with families, neighbors and community about the worth of every human being, why everyone should be valued and accepted for their authentic selves, and how differences should be celebrated. All of this says an awful lot about the faith and character of our Coalition Executive Director, and we all should be saying, “If she does this then so should the rest of us..”
